Software Installation

Step 1 – Charging the EEG Headband

The EEG headband (Brainlink) should be charged for several hours before the first use.

Step 2 – Installing the EyeCon Software

Install the computer software you received from us (the installation file that was sent).

After completing the installation, do not open the software yet.

Step 3 – Running the Configuration File (config)

Enter the EyeCon installation folder.

Locate the file named config.

Run the file (double click).

Step 4 – Creating the config.txt File

After running the file, a new file named config.txt will be created.

This file should be sent to the EyeCon team.

Step 5 – Receiving the KEY File

After sending the config.txt file, you will receive a file named KEY from us.

Copy the KEY file into the EyeCon folder.

After that, the software will function fully.

Transferring Music Files to the Software (Audio Files)

We have attached the new music files you requested.

Open the folder we sent you.

Inside the folder there are many files. Copy only the music files (files that start with the letter C).

Copy these files into the folder: EyeCon → audio_files.

Connecting the EEG Headband to the Computer (Bluetooth)

Connect the EEG headband to the computer via Bluetooth.

Go to: Settings → Devices → Bluetooth → Add device.

Select the device Brainlink.

Make sure the EEG headband is turned on during the connection.

After connection, the system is ready for use.

Recommendation (optional)

Based on experience, it is recommended to use a small external speaker near the bed.

Error Messages

“Could not connect to device”

Meaning: The EEG headband is not connected to the computer.

Possible reasons:

The headband is not sufficiently charged.

The headband is not defined in the Bluetooth connection.

The headband is connected to another device.

Important: The EEG headband can be connected to only one device at a time.

How do you know if the headband is sufficiently charged?

Connect the headband to a charger.

After a few seconds:

If the light turns off, the headband is charged.

If the light remains on, continue charging.

“Poor signal”

Meaning: The EEG headband is not positioned properly on the forehead.

What to do?

Slightly tighten the headband on the forehead.

Getting Started with EyeCon – Step by Step

  1. Turn on the EEG headband by double-clicking the power button.
  2. A double beep will be heard.
  3. Place the headband on the patient’s forehead.
  4. The dongle should be positioned above the right or left ear (left preferred).
  5. The electrodes should be positioned on the forehead close to the eyebrows.
  6. If positioned correctly, another double beep will be heard.
  7. Start the EyeCon software.
  8. A black screen will appear. This is normal.
  9. After about one minute, a white screen will appear and the software will start operating.
  10. Attention is measured every 10 seconds. After 30 seconds the song will begin.
  11. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

Explanation of the EyeCon Screen

  • X-axis – Time (minutes).
  • Y-axis – Attention Index (CEI).
  • Exercises appear on the left side.
  • On the right side, a vertical column shows signal quality.
  • Green – good EEG signal.
  • No color – no signal.
  • Exercise level appears at the top: Level 1 / 2 / 3 / 4.
  • Each exercise is marked by alternating light and dark gray bars.
  • An exercise is defined from “Blink to play” until the song restarts.

Ending a Session with EyeCon

  • Press briefly on the EEG headband to turn it off. A single beep will be heard.
  • Remove the headband from the patient’s forehead.
  • About one minute later, a save screen will appear.
  • Save the session.
  • After saving, close the EyeCon software.
